Indications:
Chronic hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis C, hairy cell leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia, AIDS related Kaposi's sarcoma, malignant melanoma, metastatic/recurrent renal cell carcinoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, high tumor burden follicular lymphoma as adjunct to apropriate combination induction chemotherapy such as a CHOP like regimen. Contra-Indications:
Signs of portal hypertension, chronic hepatitis, hypersensitivity, patients with rapidly progressive visceral disease. No aspirin or (NSAID) drugs should be given to patients treated with interferon. Special Precautions:
Depression, suicidal thoughts, psychiatric treatment which may constitute a risk factor for treatment, lung disease, diabetes, coagulation disorders, cardiovascular disease and psoriasis. Adequate hydration should be maintained. Administration of Intron-A injection in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents. Side Effects:
Changes in visual acuity or visual fields. Drug Interactions:
Centrally acting drugs. Phenytoin, theophylline, coumarin anticoagulants. Other neurotoxic, hematoxic or cardiotoxic drugs. Drugs metabolized by the liver, other immunomodulators.
