Palliative treatment of breast tumors. Contra-Indications:
Pregnancy, hypersensitivity. Special Precautions:
Lactation, leukopenia or thrombocytopenia. Transient decreases in platelet counts, usually to 50,000-100,000/mm3, have been occasionally reported in patients taking tamoxifen for breast cancer. Monitoring of plasma triglycerides and cholesterol may be indicated in patients with pre-existing hyperlipidemia. Side Effects:
Hypercalcemia, hot flushes, nausea and vomiting, vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge, menstrual irregularities and skin rash. Increased bone and tumor pain also local disease flare; these effects are sometimes associated with a good tumor response. Hypercalcemia, peripheral edema, distaste for food, pruritus vulvae, depression, dizziness, lightheadedness and headache. Drug Interactions:
